Grade 1050 aluminium has the lowest strength of all the commercial grades of aluminium. 6061 is one of the most commonly used grades aluminum grades in the world. Grade 1050 is the most common grade of aluminium sheet available in the uk. Aluminum is so adaptable in large part because of its alloys and these alloys are what create aluminum s different grades.

Many of these alloys have been divided into classes which are denoted by the first digit in their names ex. Whether it s an aluminum sheet aluminum plate aluminum bar or aluminum angle 6061 is the choice for a wide range of applications including boats furniture and structural applications. This is the highest strength alloy of the more non heat treatable grades. Each and every grade in the 1000 series contains a minimum of 99 pure aluminium within it.

A letter representing temper follows the first four digits to indicate if the material is supplied already work hardened h or heat treated t or annealed o at the mill. So what makes 6061 so versatile. It has excellent corrosion resistance and workability. 4xxx 6xx x and 2xxx are all different grades of aluminum.
